NEM Vision

Intention of NEM Vision documents is to present the vision statement of the Networked and Electronic Media (NEM) Initiative, which includes the key challenges that the NEM sector will have to face towards the 2015. The description of the NEM picture today and the vision from industry for the future is based on the input from stakeholders of the NEM field, including broadcasters, telecom operators, manufacturers of professional equipment, and manufacturers of consumer electronics, academia, and standardisation bodies. The NEM Vision document was published in January 2006 and updated in May 2007.

 

NEM Strategic Research Agenda

NEM Strategic Research Agenda (SRA) highlights European industry’s views on the research priorities that are required in the next few years so that Europe can truly become a worldwide champion in all domains related to “Networked and Electronic Media”, representing a basis for the reflections that are being investigated by all NEM European Technology Platform stakeholders. NEM SRA is created from valuable contributions received from NEM members.

 

  • NEM Strategic Research Agenda Coverage by FP7- Call 1 (January 2008) - has been prepared to serve as an analysis of the results for FP7-1 in connection with the coverage of NEM Strategic Research Agenda. The analysis takes into account SRA versions 4 and 5. A preliminary analysis of the projects being under negotiation phase as results of the Evaluation of proposals submitted to FP7-1 has been carried out.

NEM Governance Model

Clear ambition of NEM Governance Model is to have a lightweight management structure for the NEM Initiative, which allows the effective operation of the Initiative and the majority of the effort to be devoted to the development and promotion of the NEM priorities and especially the NEM Strategic Research Agenda. The Governance Model has been adopted by NEM Steering Board and approved by NEM General Assembly.

  • First NEM Governance Model - (January 2006)

  • Governance Model - Version 2.0  (December 2007) - includes changes approved at 3rd and 4th NEM General Assembly meetings; increased number of NEM Steering Board members (1) , synchronisation of terms for elections of Steering Board members and officers (2), structure of NEM Executive Group (3), and formal change of NEM support project (4).

 

NEM Position Papers – Approval Procedure

A NEM Position Paper is any document that gives the NEM Initiative view on any subject related to the networked electronic media area. NEM position papers typically include: letters of advice to the Commission, formal opinions submitted to the Commissioner, submissions to regulatory bodies, or any other formal statement of this nature. NEM Project Characteristics

This NEM Project Characteristics document (January 2007) describes requirements for being a NEM Project, presenting a set of characteristics & milestones that should be included in every project that wants to define itself as part of the NEM community.
