NEM Working Groups
NEM Steering Board has the responsibility to push for action at all levels of interest within the NEM community, in order to provide response to the NEM vision. In this way, several NEM working groups has been created, each of them with a clear focus and activities to be carried out. On advice and request, the Steering Board may set up Working Groups of limited duration to deal with particular issues of special concern to its mission.

WG1 - NEM Vision

- Scope: Promotion of a high level vision for NEM in 2015 (completed) and in 2020 (in progress)

WG2 - Strategic Research Agenda (NEM SRA)

Status: Active while creating/updating the SRA document
- Convenor: Klaus Ilgner (IRT) assisted by Christoph Dosch (IRT); E-mail: dosch@irt.de
- Scope: Ensure the compilation, edition and leading the processes for updates of the Strategic Research Agenda. Promotion of think-tank discussions to ensure NEM SRA is upfront of state of art technologies while maintaining consistency with the goals defined in the NEM Vision.

WG3 - Regulatory Working Group (NEM REG)

- Convenor: David Wood (EBU); E-mail: wood@ebu.ch
- Scope: Position of NEM regarding key regulatory rules, directives, norms of European Commission, Member States and any other relevant regulatory body affecting NEM opportunities. Identification of NEM contributions to overall European goals, as for example, i2010. Similarly as technological projects, regulatory measures can be promoted and proposed by groups of interested NEM participants.

WG4 - Financial Working Group (NEM FIN)

- Convenor: Enrique Menduiña (Telefónica); E-mail: efmm@tid.es
- Scope: Identification of requirements and needs to fund and finance NEM activities. Links with official funding Entities, like EIB. Explore Risk-Sharing-Financial Facility schemes and Structural Funds programmes.
- Deliverable: Recommendations on funding requirements and opportunities to find proper financial resources to implement NEM vision
WG5 - Institutional Working Group (NEM INST)

Convenor: Jean Michel Dupont (Thomson) and Thierry Van Landegem - responsible for Mirror Group activities; E-mails: jean-michel.dupont@thomson.net and Thierry.van_landegem@alcatel-lucent.be
- Scope: Set up, and promotes the execution of, a NEM plan to liaise with relevant Institutions, Bodies and coordinate actions from NEM with other European Technology Platforms. Promote briefings and reports, when applicable, to key stakeholders and European authorities. Special activity will be conducted on the relations with Member States authorities having responsibilities for their national R&D programmes through a formal Mirror Group where regular meetings would be held with National Authorities aiming at coordination of research priorities at European and Member State levels.
